Developing our ability to pray for healing One way to develop, - TopicsExpress

Developing our ability to pray for healing One way to develop, deepen and strengthen the effectiveness of our ability to pray for healing is to attend events or conferences. Why is that ? Several reasons : Firstly, we get more teaching on the subject of healing. People share insights that increase our understanding. We grow in our biblical and practical knowledge of how and why healing does or doesn’t occur. Secondly, we hear stories of situations where God has healed. These increase our faith in terms of what we believe it is possible for God to do. As Bill Johnson wrote Things become possible in the present that were not available until the testimony was given. Thirdly, we see healing modelled out by someone else. The way they do it may inspire us to pray in the same way or they may do it in a way which we realise doesn’t work so well. Each is valuable as we reflect on it. Fourthly, we may get an opportunity to be prayed for to receive more in the way of gifting from the Holy Spirit – a fresh anointing. So what’s on, both locally and further afield, that we might consider going to ? Here’s a few possibilities : 1. The “Naturally Supernatural” conference at Kings Church, Seacliff Road in Bangor on Saturday 22 March 2014 between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm. Kings Church have invited Mike Pilavachi over from Soul Survivor in England. Mike will be leading and teaching about hearing God speak, the gift of prophecy, praying for healing, how we pray for one another and introducing practical times of prayer ministry. The three Soul Survivor summer conferences held in England attract some 30,000 Christians each year. This is a marvelous opportunity to hear Mike in Northern Ireland. Tickets available at kingschurchbangor.org/naturally-supernatural/ Admission £12 for the day. 2. AMI Ireland have “Experiencing God” events every few months on a Saturday evening in Belfast at the Belfast City Mission, Glengall Street (a few yards from the Europa Hotel in Great Victoria Street). Future events are scheduled for Saturday 5 April, Saturday 24 May, Saturday 30 August, Saturday 11 October and Saturday 22 November. The speaker at these events will be Dennis Bourns from the Vineyard church in Phoenix, Arizona. He is a long time Vineyard pastor who travelled with John Wimber in the 1980s. Dennis has a very significant prophetic ministry. It’s surprising that these great meetings aren’t more widely known about. The audio of the sermons from previous events can be found at ami12/experiencing-god-meetings.html The meetings typically involve a period of corporate worship, teaching, and a ministry time. At the last meeting there was prayer for people to receive an anointing to move more in the prophetic. No admission charge. 3. Northdown CFC have a monthly prayer ministry training event at 8.00 pm on the first Tuesday of every month. We share stories of what we’ve seen happen and listen to talks from a wide variety of different speakers who are known for their healing ministries. There is usually a brief book review of a book on healing which has been found helpful and then a time of prayer. No admission charge. 4. “Encounter More 2014”. This is much more than just a healing conference. It is being held at Causeway Coast Vineyard from Thursday evening on 29 May to Saturday night on 31 May. The speakers include Danielle Strickland (from the Salvation Army in Canada), Alan Scott, and Mark Marx (who founded Healing on the Streets). Worship is to be led by Tim Hughes and Kathryn Scott who have each written some very well known modern worship songs. Danielle Strickland may do damage to your perception of officers in the Salvation Army. She has a tattoo, speaks in tongues and has prayed for someone to be raised from the dead (successfully !). If you’re not familiar with the Vineyard in Coleraine you may like to know that Pete Greig, the founder of the 24/7 prayer movement and Director of Prayer at HTB, recently said of the Causeway Coast Vineyard “What is happening at Causeway Vineyard I think is one of the most remarkable visitations that we’re seeing anywhere right now.” - and that comment was made before anyone knew that 130 people had come to faith in Christ in just 16 days. Last year about 800 attended the Encounter More conference. For more information look on the Vineyard website causewaycoastvineyard under “What’s On”. Tickets are £45 for the full conference. 5. “Capacity Day” events at Causeway Coast Vineyard. These are usually one day long from and held on a Saturday, typically from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm or 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. A couple of these are held each year in Coleraine. They focus on developing in spiritual gifts, how to do healing, how to receive prophetic words etc. For more information look on the Vineyard website causewaycoastvineyard under “What’s On”. Admission charge is usually about £7.50. 6. “Global Awakening” events. Global Awakening was founded by Randy Clark after his involvement with the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship revival. Typically during the day there will be shorter periods of worship, frequent teaching sessions, and prayer for impartation and greater anointing, and then during the evening there will be longer periods of worship and healing services which are open to the public. Randy emphasises and demonstrates the use of words of knowledge. He has what is recognised as one of the most significant healing ministries in the world today. Attending one of his conferences is like being back at one of John Wimber’s Signs and Wonders conferences in the 1980s. Randy Clark recently held a conference at St Pauls Church of England in Hammersmith, London, attended by somewhere between 500 and 700. People queued outside each morning before the church was opened to get in and, on the last day, people were running down the aisles to get seats near the front. Based in the USA, Randy travels the world extensively, spending a lot of time in South America and Asia. He may therefore only be in the UK once a year. One way to attend a Global Awakening event is to apply to be part of the ministry team. Randy usually takes a group of between 20 – 50 with him to each conference as a ministry team. These people pay their own flights and accommodation to get there. At the St Paul’s event one of the ministry team was from Derry/Londonderry. For a list of future events see globalawakening/events/full-event-list?view=events The next occasion Randy appears to be in the UK is at a New Wine event (ie the charismatic end of the Anglican church spectrum) rather than a Global Awakening event newwinecymru.co.uk/event/leaders-conference-2014/ Any of these interest you ?
