Dr. Whitaker is interim director of the Division of Health Promotion and Behavior for the Institute of Public Health at Georgia State University. Previously, he was director of the National SafeCare Training and Research Center at Marcus Institute and acting branch chief of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Division of Violence Prevention. He became a Team Leader for the CDC in the Prevention Development and Evaluation Branch where he led a team of researchers that conducted prevention research on child maltreatment and intimate partner violence.
