Devotional for October 17, 2013 2 Peter 1:16-17 "For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, a voice came to Him from the Majestic Glory: This is My beloved Son. I take delight in Him." Our faith is not based on myth. It is based on our being eyewitnesses of His character and power. If we haven’t seen His power, or heard God’s voice in our hearts attesting to the reality of Jesus, then we need to seek God and His face until we do. It is this firsthand witness that is so powerful to the world. Without it, we are just espousing second-hand knowledge, which may, or may not be based on reality. Father, show us Your son in His glory. Make Your presence known in our lives in power and truth, so that we may be able to truly attest to Your reality in this dark and ambiguous world.
