Did you know? Although we reached the century mark in many areas on Friday, the high yesterday "officially" reached 99 degrees at Kansas City International, making it likely that 2013 will fail to produce a single 100 degree day as far as Kansas City official records are concerned. How rare is this? Not very actually! Since records began in 1888, 48 out of 125 summers failed to produce a 100 degree day. Of more interesting note, many areas across northern Missouri will end August without measureable rainfall. Kirksville, which has weather records dating back to 1893, has never had a summer month without measurable rainfall until now.
