Did you know dogs can hear sounds over a wider range of frequencies and a greater distance than humans? Dogs are better than us at detecting higher notes and have the ability to move their ears independently, so that one ear can locate the sound and both ears can then catch the maximum number of sound waves. This is how dogs can hear over a greater distance than us. Dogs hear sounds at a higher frequency . According to Dr. Bruce Fogel the range of hearing for dogs is 40KHz while humans is around 20 KHz. This is why some high pitched noises are uncomfortable and even painful for dogs. Please bear this in mind with the care of your dog.
