Did you know that May is Foster Youth Month? Growing up, I was very fortunate that my parents made the selfless choice to take in foster children. I had many foster siblings over the years, and it was a wonderful experience. That experience showed me the importance of foster care and the social workers and foster and adoption caseworkers who facilitate that process. There are nearly 400,000 youth in the foster care system, and they are our responsibility – each and every one of them. Support local foster care and adoption agencies, thank a caseworker or court appointed special advocate and be grateful for the wonderful children in your life. This month, I invite you to become a citizen co-sponsor of the Congressional resolution recognizing May as National Foster Care Month.
