Did you see the action in Hastings this afternoon/evening? Police were called to a house on Karamu Road around 5pm after they had concerns about a 33 year old man who had pointed a firearm at his mother two days ago. Acting Assistant Commissioner Investigations Glenn Dunbier said the man had been taken into custody by police and was lying on the ground when it appears a police firearm was accidentally discharged towards the man. The man was taken immediately to hospital by ambulance. Mr Dunbier said two investigations into the shooting were underway by police and the Independent Police Complaints Authority.
