Died on this Date: Jonathan Harshman Gorman became an orphan at an early age and was raised by his grandfather, George H. Harshman. Jonathan H. Gorman, after graduating from Miami College at Oxford, Ohio, furthered his education at Flushing School in Long Island. On his return, he engaged in the banking business with Reuben Harshman but during the widespread financial panic of 1873 they suffered losses as did hundreds of other banking institutions and were forced to close. Mr. Gorman then entered the milling business in Montgomery County, continuing in that line of business until he retired in 1888. He married Rosetta Harries, of Dayton. They had one son, G. H. Gorman, who was treasurer of the Davis Sewing Machine Company. Jonathan Harshman Gorman passed away on May 3, 1915 at the age of 80. He is buried in Section 47 Lot 103..
