Dietrich Watches Emmanuel DietrichThe natural curiosityDietrich and exceptional accessories hand creation craftsmanship have become the qualities, that allowed the young designer to occupy his place in different spheres of design and later in watchmaking world. Since his childhood Emmanuel Dietrich has not been interested in games, as most of his coevals have, but in his neighbors workshops. Thats why he spent most of his free time at one of his neighbors carpenters workshop and at another ones leather workshop. The future designer was a fan of wooden toys and believed, that one day he would become a carpenter himself. The educational institution, where Emmanuel got an interior designer education, the Ecole Boulle, became his first starting point to the watchmaking world. After finishing it the young designer understood, that designing and creating great pieces was wonderful, but it didnt enable him to get full satisfaction from his work. In 1990 he starts setting up his own business, which, as Emmanuel confessed, was dictated by the new industrial world. The young designer was often attracted by fashion industry, which, combined with his designers technical knowledge, gradually started taking shape of Dietrich business, that was to become the business of his lifetime. The small company Emmanuel started up was first involved in furniture production. This way, Dietrich watch history is a double-sided medal. From the one side, the designer is a great furniture creation craftsman and, on the other hand, hes a great watchmaking craftsman. The designer considers cooperation with Ligne Roset, for whom he created furniture, the bottle, incrusted with diamonds for Dom Ruinart and the fork collection for Haagen Daz, his most significant achievements. After this, watches appeared in the designers life. His first wrist watch was executed for “Hermes” company, which can indisputably be considered the designers significant achievement. The first model was the iconic Harnais, that was executed in original design, using unprecedented technologies. It could be followed by other watches, designed for other companies, as Emmanuel confessed, but he thought of creating his own watch collections. Thats how Dietrich wrist watches appeared. The wrist watches, inspired by Time itself. Nowadays the company produces wrist watches with the style, that Emmanuel depicts as “wrist watches for every moment of life”, and this is what he says about the future of the company and the worlds watchmaking industry: “I dont care about what happens in a hundred years or so, Im more interested in what happens in about 2 years”.
