Difference Maker 10/03/2014 Ephesians Devotionals ----------------------- Ephesians 4:31-32 31 Get rid of all hard feelings, anger and rage. Stop all fighting and lying. Put away every form of hatred. 32 Be kind and tender to one another. Forgive each other, just as God forgave you because of what Christ has done. ----------------------- Christians are to be different from this world. Often we fit in like nothing has changed in our lives and little differentiates us from the way the world operates. Or, and even worse in my opinion, we put up a fake front of perfection and pretend that we don’t have any struggles or hang-ups. Here is the reality, Christians struggle with the same hard feelings, anger, rage, fighting and lying the world struggles with. Sin comes naturally for everyone. The difference is in what we allow to persist in our lives and in what we throw away. The world will allow hard feelings, anger, rage, fighting and lying (sin) to stick around, and as a result, it causes a domino effect of hurt and hardship both internally and interpersonally. This is where Christians are to be different. Christians are to identify these conditions and actions as sin and are to throw them out like a moldy piece of bread. Sin is stopped and pushed from within. Righteousness is welcomed and cultivated to grow more. As Christians, sinning still comes naturally but it shouldn’t be allowed to linger. Things like kindness, softness of heart and forgiveness should find a permanent home in the life of a Christian. These are the righteous attributes that are meant to invade and bind, because they reflect the holiness of God. It’s a daily fight, but as Christians we are called to spend a lifetime of pushing out the bad and pulling in the good. Actively engaging in this struggle alone will differentiate us from the world. But there will be an end. The ultimate difference maker is the redemption and forgiveness of our sins through our Savior at the conclusion of our lives, which will end this struggle forever. Jesus is the final and true difference maker. prayerbits.org NEEDTOBREATHE Difference Maker Yeah, isnt it amazing how a man can find himself alone Call into the darkness for an answer thats hes never known Yeah, isnt it amazing how God can take a broken man Yeah, let him find a fortune, let him ruin it with his own two hands And he climbs on up the hill on the rock on which he stands He looks back at the crowd He looks down at his hands and he says I am a difference maker Oh, I am the difference maker Oh, I am the only one who speaks to him And I am the friendliest of friends of God Yeah, isnt it amazing how a man can find himself alone Call into the darkness for an answer thats hes never known Yeah, isnt it amazing how God can take a broken man Yeah, let him find a fortune, let him ruin it with his own two hands He walks on up the hill to the rock on which he stands He looks back at the crowd He looks down at his hands and he says I am a difference maker Oh, I am the difference maker Oh, I am the only one that speaks to him And I am the friendliest of friends of God I am on the fence about nearly everything Ive seen And I have felt the fire be put out by too much gasoline And were all strangers passing through a place and time afternoon Life is but a vision in a window that were peeking through A helpless conversation with a man who says he cares a lot Its a passive confrontation about who might throw a punch or not We are all transgressors, were all sinners, were all astronauts So if youre beating death then raise your hand but shut up if youre not Cause I am the difference maker Oh, I am the only one that speaks to him And I am the friendliest of friends of God I am the difference maker Oh, I am the only one that speaks to him And I am the friendliest of friends of God I am the difference maker Oh, I am the only one that speaks to him And I am the friendliest of friends of God https://youtube/watch?v=x0qvCagUkXM
