Differential service levels between one part of town and another are unacceptable. I ran on it and I am mayoring like it. Even before this story ran I had already asked our department heads to look at where in their departments they can increase equity in their departments and in the community. In his reappointment public hearing our great Public Works Director Steve Kotke mentioned complaint-based service systems and how they lead to different service levels in different parts of the city - and hes committed to gathering the right data to really know whats happening and where with streetlights, potholes, plowing and any other service we provide. Well start here. This might be a question of how the reports are filed, but we need to know for sure and we need to get it right for North and for the whole city.
