Director Karen Morrison has been chosen to be the Adapted Aquatics Trainer for a project in Thailand! What a great opportunity - Detail below... National Ability Center’s Project DPTP: Developing Potential and Transforming Perceptions An Educational and Cultural Exchange in Chiang Mai and Nong Khai, Thailand An International Sports Initiative for Individuals with Disabilities February 6-23, 2015 Program Summary The National Ability Center in collaboration with Redemptorist Vocational Schools of Thailand (RVSD), Thailand, will implement a sports exchange initiative for youth with disabilities in the cities of Chiang Mai and Nong Khai, Thailand. The goal of the Project is to establish sustainable sports programs that targets youth with physical and developmental disabilities in Thailand that will be continued and replicated beyond the term of the grant. This project is funded through the Sports Diplomacy Program of the US Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs. From February 6-23, 2015, a U.S. based multi-sports skills training team consisting of six professional coaches, two National Ability Center project staff and six interns (adaptive recreation professionals, students and/or athletes) will travel to Thailand to conduct two separate six-day training programs for Thai coaches and youth with disabilities in the following sports: aquatics, archery, track and field sports (shot put, javelin and discus), wheelchair basketball, archery and table tennis.
