Disaster crews from around Texas showed off their cooking skills with their mobile feeding units in a cook-off with a twist. Members of the Salvation Army from San Antonio, Kerrville, Austin and other cities joined first responders from the American Red Cross, the San Antonio Police Department and members of the Kiwanis Club to host the competition. The goal of the competition is to make the best meal to serve during a disaster situation. Each team was given $50 to create enough meals to serve 50 people. The exercise is the final event of week-long training to make sure crews are ready when disaster strikes. We like to say all roads lead to San Antonio when it comes to disasters from down south or tornado up north, all roads lead here ... (We) want to make sure were prepared to fulfill needs, said William Trueblood, projects manager for the Salvation Army. Some of the meals prepared include chicken quesadillas and fajita salad. The San Antonio crew made creamy potato soup. #KSATnews #KSATnews
