Disciplines near and dear to my heart. I am troubled by the many attempts by politicians and think tanks to dismantle the dissemination of history and social science to our younger generation. When we fail to understand where we have come from, as well as to understand the conditions of ourselves and others in a socio-cultural context, we are limiting our democratic growth and denying the key ingredient to a healthy, functioning democracy - an educated electorate.
