Displace Me Purpose: To learn what it is like to be a refugee. Displace Me is an overnight event aimed at raising awareness about the plight of refugees. Throughout the world, people are forced to flee their homes due to natural disaster, war and persecution. At present, there are almost 15 million refugees and 22 million displaced people worldwide. Who: All Teenagers Jr. High - High School Age who have previously signed up Date: Sunday, August 11, 6 pm drop off Monday, August 12, 7 am pick up Deadline to sign up is Sunday, July 21 to ensure you will receive a T-shirt Location: Parking lot at 312 Eureka Street in Genoa just east of Chamberlain Park – Thank you Custom Aluminum for graciously allowing us to use this property! What to Bring? - Cardboard box (to sleep in) - Sleeping bag or blankets - Warm clothes if needed - Flashlight - Permission and Release Forms - Do Not Bring Electronics or Food - Please eat before you come as no food is allowed at this event in order to give participants a realistic view of what it would be like to be a refugee.
