District Middle School Fairs Begin This Month! The Department of Education will kick off the Middle School Admissions process with its annual District Middle School Fairs, which begin Tuesday, September 30, 2014 and last through Thursday, October 9, 2014. Fair locations and dates vary, so be sure to check our website for up-to-date listings. At the Fairs, youll have the chance to speak with representatives from schools that interest you and learn more about the application process at information sessions led by the Office of Student Enrollment. Before you head to a Fair, take a look at our Fair Guide for tips on what to do at the Fairs and how to make the best use of your time. You do not need to RSVP to attend. Save the Date: Middle School Open Houses Schools will hold open houses for interested students in the weeks following the District Middle School Fairs. You can visit nyc.gov/schools/ChoicesEnrollment/Calendar for open house information. You should also contact schools directly for dates and times to make sure you have the have the latest information on school events. Middle School Directories Now Available Each student will receive a copy of the 2015 New York City Middle Schools Directory from their elementary school. The Directories provide information about middle schools in each district so families can make informed choices when applying to middle school. English versions of the Directories are now available online. Translated versions of the directories will be available online on a rolling basis in: • Arabic • Bengali • Chinese • French • Haitian Creole • Korean • Russian • Spanish • Urdu Middle School Applications Due in December Middle school applications will be distributed to families in November and are due back to guidance counselors in December. More information about Middle School Admissions, including a calendar of events, deadlines, and electronic copies of middle school publications, are available on the Department’s Web site at nyc.gov/schools/ChoicesEnrollment/Middle.
