Division: Technology Business Unit: TV Outside Broadcast Position: Rigger / Driver (3 Year Fixed term Contract) Scale Code: 404 Reporting Line: Resources Coordinator Main Purpose of Position Loading, off-loading, transporting, rigging / de-rigging, set up, testing and first line maintenance of production equipment in order to support successful outside broadcast productions Key Accountabilities • To safely drive OB units up to code EC • Rig and de-rig cables and equipment as per production requirements • Load and off load equipment and cables as per individual production requirements • Liaise with unit supervisor and planner about production requirements • Inform the unit supervisor and transport department on any vehicle defects • Keep the OB unit in good working and presentable condition • Ensure all equipment is loaded onto vehicles prior to departure to and from productions • Keep track of vehicle and generator service schedule and timeously inform the unit supervisor and transport department when service is due • Do first line maintenance on the OB unit such as changing a flat tyre • Do first line vehicle checks prior to all journeys, as per SABC SOP’s • Be able to work independently and as part of a team • Be responsible to deliver OB unit to productions safely and on time • Must be willing to work long hours even on weekends • Must be willing to work away from home for extended periods • Must be willing to work stand-by hours if and when required • Must be physically fit, with good eye sight. • Must be willing to undergo psychometric and driving assessment • Participate in performance management as part of job requirement • Act as an ambassador for the SABC . Qualifications & Experience • Code EC (old code 14) drivers licence with PDP • 3 Years experience driving code EC vehicles • Must pass the fitness for work certification Unique Requirements • Advanced heavy vehicle drivers licence • Knowledge and understanding of television productions • Knowledge and understanding of all television operational equipment • Previous experience as a rigger/driver A practical and written skill assessment may be conducted to evaluate competency for the position Interested candidates must apply with a concise CV to [email protected] Closing Date: 31 January 2015 Preference will be given, but not limited to, candidates from designation groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act and the SABC’s Employment Equity initiatives.
