Do Not Influence Posting, Coordinator. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for their service year have been warned to desist from influencing their postings, by appealing to their employers to reject them due to selfish reasons. The FCT NYSC Coordinator, Olanipekun Alao who gave the warning at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Batch ‘C’ Stream II Orientation Course, stated that the management would not hesitate to send such corps members back, if discovered. He however said that only genuine cases of rejection would be considered, just as he urged the corps employers to accept every corps member posted to their establishment. Also speaking, the minister of state for the FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide also urged the corps members to desist from rejecting places where they were posted for their primary assignment, that they should make positive impact wherever they are posted to serve. Akinjide, who was represented by FCT Director of Finance and Administration, Salisu Kalamu, further stated that in line with the NYSC objective of taking development across FCT, majority of the corps members will be posted to rural communities, especially education sector where their services are needed most and urged them to accept their posting and bring positive change to the host communities. She noted that the skill acquisition and enterprenurial skills development training organised for corps members in the camp was aimed at developing their entrepreneurial spirit, urging them to serve as role models to others and be patriotic in carrying out the mandate of post service unemployment advocacy project, aimed at attaining a productive national service. “The skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development training was geared towards inspiring corps members to develop entrepreneurial spirit in line with the President’s transformation agenda on youth unemployment and the need to empower them and discourage dependence on government employment,’’ she said.
