Do QLD parents really know what their children are taught in RI? - TopicsExpress

Do QLD parents really know what their children are taught in RI? Due to RI being commonly mislabelled as religious education and a lack of information from schools, some believe it provides an opportunity for their children to learn about a religion (usually Christianity) and that it might include values lessons. Do they realise that some RI volunteer providers see it very differently? The Anglican Church of Noosa is under no illusions of what their purpose for going into schools is all about. Its not about teaching good values. Its not to help the children in any way..... other than to make sure they form a personal relationship with Christ. In their own words: anglicanchurchnoosa.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Sermon-for-SU-chaplains-and-RI-teachers-commissioning.pdf What do we want our kids to learn? Not how to be nice girls and boys Not how to achieve in the world Not how to get on with their friends … we want them to know Jesus…! We want them to love him and trust and serve him… We want them to know there is no other way but Jesus… We want them to know that being Christian is not about being religious but being in a relationship We want them to know that they cannot get right with God through their own efforts but only through what Jesus has done on the cross Yes we want them to know Jesus Christ and him crucified!!
