Do limitations really exist ? By Chris Thompson (10/23/2012) Do limitations really exist ? Are they tangible ? Or are they simply an illusion ? So many people walk around dragging this weight with them. They were told as a child that they would never amount to anything…or the doctor has told them that they have some affliction or disease that will cause them great pain or even death. And they simply accept that as fact and are now shackled by this weight…and it affects every part of their being. It creeps into their daily lives and not only affects them, but those around them as well. What if there were NO limitations ! What would you be able to accomplish ? What if you were without restrictions or boundaries within which you were allowed to move or think ? Imagine your possibilities ! The truth is my friends, there are NO limitations except those that you allow to exist. Once you allow a restriction of ANY kind to exist, then it becomes real and genuine. And you will become a slave to this restriction and it will become a constraint that will keep you from reaching your full potential and being who you were meant to be. Anthony Robles of Arizona State University has only one leg, but that didnt stop him from becoming the national wrestling champion in his weight class. Lance Benson is 36 years old and was born with no legs. Yet he doesnt let that stop him. He competes in sports events by sitting atop a skateboard and using his hands to propel himself. He blazed through the 2005 ING New York City Marathon in just 3 hours and 37 minutes, and competed in the 2006 ING Miami Marathon as well. Helen Keller was blind and deaf from the age of 19 months old, yet she was an American author, political activist and lecturer. She was the first deaf-blind person to earn to person to earn a “Bachelor of Arts” degree and was inducted into the Alabama Women’s all of Fame in 1971. I could go on for years with this list. And each of these people would ALL have one thing in common. Not their so called “disabilities”, but their refusal to accept ANY limitations. So why is it that so many people walk around shackled by the restraints of limitation ? Simply because they allow it to be so. Bruce Lee used to say “Use no limitation as limitation.” Imagine yourself every day without any restrictions on your mind, body, and spirit. There is truly NOTHING that is beyond your grasp. Simply believe in yourself and allow nothing negative to manifest itself in your heart. We all have our “bad days”, but remember that every day above ground is an opportunity for you to change whatever is wrong into something that is right. Just believe in yourself and accept nothing less than the best from yourself, and you will be the person you were meant to be…happy, fulfilled, and at peace.
