Do people drive better when they are HIGH only on cannabis? ...Peripheral attention and its contents are reduced in the high state; central attention receives the energy which would otherwise be used in peripheral attention... Many of the attention elements that are maintained and monitored continuously at this low level when straight, take away from the cental task - eg driving and thinking about what you gonna have for dinner... However when high and without the need for these side glances, attention flows to the central subject and there fore the task at hand enters the central position and it receives the intense central attention and is attended to in great detail. .
