Do we have a civilian dictatorship in Ekiti State or what? The - TopicsExpress

Do we have a civilian dictatorship in Ekiti State or what? The same good people of the fountain of knowledge(Ekitis motto) that elected Governor Fayose also elected members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly. Essentially we have a divided government in Ekiti State per the electorate. Its incumbent on Governor Fayose to reach out to the Assemblymen and the Speaker of the Legislature as the three branches of the State government are co-equals. One branch of government cannot impose its will on the other branches as stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution. Furthermore, Governor Fayose should borrow a leaf from his counterpart in Nasarawa State, which also has divided government as the State House of Assembly in Nasarawa is in the hands of the PDP while while Governor Al-Makura is an APC helmsman. By our reckoning, the governor of the Home of Solid Minerals (Nasarawas motto) has not misappropriated the Constitution half as much (if at all) as Governor Fayose and he is constantly under the threat of impeachment; what are we to make of Governor Fayoses shenanigans in Ekiti State notwithstanding his doling out of stomach infrastructure to the citizens. Nigeria is still a constitutional republic based on the rule of law. The rest of the world is observing how we practice this thing called democracy just as much as we watch how other democracies function.
