Do you have Avast Anti-Virus? Then read this! Gamers Unite! has been getting a LOT of complaints from people that their Snag Bar keeps telling them they are not connected to Facebook. This failed connection is also happening when visiting the GU! website. If you have any form of Avast installed on your computer, that is the likely culprit. Recently, the anti-virus program started adding a browser Add-On / Extension when people updated their program. This extension included a feature that blocked all social connections for outside websites like Gamers Unite! This means that any website that uses Facebook, Google +, Twitter, or any other social network would not work correctly because Avast was keeping the website from interacting with the needed social network. If the Snag Bar is telling you that you need to make a connection with Facebook, or you visit the GU! website and there are no links in the top right corner of the page, then you need to do one of two things: 1) Click the green Avast logo in the top right corner of your browser (will look like a small, incomplete a), click the Settings link, and uncheck the Do Not Track box. Restart your browser to have the changes take affect. NOTE: Avast will restore the default settings every time you clean your browsers cache, so you may have to repeat these steps a lot. 2) Go into your browsers Add-On / Extensions area and disable the Avast Online Security plugin. While there are some nice features to this plugin, the inability to permanently turn off the social networking block makes this plugin nearly useless if you visit any websites that connect to a social network. And in this day and age, how many websites dont connect to at least one? NOTE: Disabling this plugin does NOT affect your main Avast program. Its up to you which option above you choose.
