Do you know about the Leave the Pack Behind program? Each year, at Sheridan, we hold campaigns and contests to bring awareness about the harmful effects of smoking and of course all the benefits of becoming/remaining smoke free. This year, a student from Davis campus was the grand prize winner of the wouldurather contest to quit smoking. He won a cash prize of $2500.00! This was the second time a Sheridan student has won the grand prize. Our success this year came from having well-organized student teams on both the Trafalgar and Davis campuses. For the second year our Davis team also conducted events and awareness at HMC. At the end of the term, we receive a report on our progress and accomplishments. Sheridan joined LTPB in 2009. Since then, we have steadily increased the amount of students we reach. This year alone, at all of our campuses, we helped more than 250 students successfully quit smoking. We had face-to-face contact with over 5700 students. Up to 85% of students are aware that we have LTPB on campus, and what that means for them.
