Do you know how I would handle "immigration"? For the 11-12 - TopicsExpress

Do you know how I would handle "immigration"? For the 11-12 million people already here illegally, I would implement a system similar to a "community service program" each state already has. And I would ask each person to come forward, and I would enter each name into the system, and whether or not they are currently working......and for those who are working, I would start drawing taxes from their paycheck, and I would sign each individual up for community service of their choice, and after completing a certain amount of hours, I would issue each individual a work visa. And once they received their work visa, and showed consistent work history from that point on, I would allow them to apply for citizenship, probably five years after receiving their work visa. I think something like that is fair for all involved. However, for those who are already here working, and getting paid, I would give them a choice to do community service, or immediately start paying taxes, before earning their work visa. I think handling it this way, would make both democrats and republicans happy, because no one would be deported, and each individual would have the right to "work towards citizenship" rather than having it handed to them. Because the truth is, for those who are here illegally, and did not follow the rules for whatever reason, and I do understand many of their reasons, truly I do.......but at the same time, when you EARN something, and go about it the right way, and work for it, it becomes YOURS, and no one can EVER take that away, and THAT is why I think it would be best to give each person the right to earn citizenship in this way. I think it would feel good to each person to earn it, and then OWN IT, then no one could ever be able to say anything.
