Do you see that blue book in that case? My own full signature is on the end paper of that very volume of “ The Collected Poems of Robert Service” that now resides inside that weatherproofed aluminum case on the summit of Robert Service Mountain, BC (on the Alaskan border). I came across Mr. Dittrich and his expedition in a cafe in nearby Atlin BC. They showed me all this memorabilia and told me about their expedition. We traded a couple of Service lines. Then they invited me to be a vicarious part of it all in offering to let me sign the book! Cool. Talk about “right place, right time”! Wish I had a photo of the meeting signature. My iPhone died just as I walked into the restaurant. I can’t prove a thing!
