Do you talk about your workout in muscles or movements? Think - TopicsExpress

Do you talk about your workout in muscles or movements? Think about your symmetry for a second. That’s how balanced your body is from left to right in terms of muscularity. Now, try throwing a ball or doing something with your dominant hand that requires coordination. Imagine doing that same thing with your less dominant hand. If you have similar muscle, doesn’t it make sense that the performance should be the same? But it isn’t, right? At Bonza Bodies Fitness studio, we are constantly up-training our instructors to make sure they are giving the most effective, well researched and interesting workouts possible. As part of their education, we talk about those things called exercises. Seems pretty obvious. However...when we speak trainer to trainer, we ask what movement category the clients will be working through. You see, an exercise that focuses on a particular muscle has no concern for how it might want to be used. Since there’s a neural connection to the muscle, if you’re looking to do anything other than stand on a podium without motion, you need to consider MOVEMENT. A movement speaks directly to you and your body changing its position. What that movement change achieves is where the magic happens. Muscles start working together in an intelligent manner. So next time you’re working out, try not to think about muscles...but movements. Still not sure what I mean?
