Doctrinal difference between SDAs and the Nazarenes: 1. Sunday sacredness: The belief that since Jesus rose from the dead on the first day, all Christians should worship on that day. (See Gen. 2:1-3; Ex. 20:8-11; Ezek. 20:12-20; Lk. 4:16; Matt. 24:20; Acts 13:42-44; Rev. 1:10; Matt. 12:8;Lk. 6:5; Isa. 66:22,23.) 2. Immortality of the soul: The belief that each individual has an immortal, indestructible soul distinct from the body but which leaves the body at death destined for heaven or hell. (See 1 Tim. 6:15,16; Gen. 2:7; Eccl. 12:7; Job 27:3; Ps. 146:4; 6:5; 115:17; Jn. 11:11-14.) Remember the Bible uses the wordsoul 1,600 times and never once says inmortal soul. The Bible calls death a sleep 53 times. 3. Eternal torment: The belief that God punishes the lost in hell for eternity. (See Mal. 4:1-3; Ps. 37:10,11,20,38; Jude 7; 2 Pet. 2:6; Rev. 20:9; Rev. 12:29.)
