Does it bother anybody else that fantasy fiction personality tests - TopicsExpress

Does it bother anybody else that fantasy fiction personality tests are not validated? Usually where there are n possible results, e.g. 4 houses in Hogwarts, every question has 4 answers and its very obvious which answer is supposed to lead to which result. Obviously its not possible to run the tests on fictional characters. However, if it was a proper test, you would go through every individual character in the books, and try to put yourself in their shoes to answer the questions, as in What would Arya Stark answer, what would Robb Stark answer, what would Ned answer, what would Sansa answer... because some of the questions you originally thought of may not actually be relevant for grouping the respondents, e.g. Tywin Lannister vs. Tyrion may give you very different answers as to whether family is important, or Hermione vs. Ron may give you very different answers as to whether studying is important. Then you should discard the irrelevant questions. You also dont need the number of responses for each question to be equal to the number of possible test results, because even if you have fewer responses, over the entire set of questions it should form distinct patterns for each group. Am I overthinking things to expect that quizzes on the likes of OKCupid and Zimbio should be validated? Chiu Lau
