Does the news from Russia make you feel helpless? The one thing - TopicsExpress

Does the news from Russia make you feel helpless? The one thing guaranteed to make us feel more empowered is getting out and doing something. That’s why this Saturday 16 November many will be taking part in a Free the Arctic 30 protest with local Greenpeace networks. It will be one of up to 60 taking place around the country, and of hundreds across the globe. Get involved: Find the nearest protest to you on this map. greenpeace.org.uk/blog/climate/global-day-action-freethearctic30-20131111?&utm_medium=email&utm_source=gpeace&utm_content=1+-+Find+the+nearest+protest+to+you+on+this+&utm_campaign=a30protestem01&source=a30protestem01 It was Russian oil giant, Gazprom, who called in the armed special forces. They were critical to the arrest and detention of the Arctic 30, and hold the key to their freedom. Yet Shell is poised to do a major deal with them. How could anyone do business with a company like that? Shell are complicit in the detention of 30 prisoners of conscience if they don’t assert their influence with Gazprom. Join others in a peaceful protest at your local Shell forecourt on Saturday. Please join us in telling Shell that it’s unacceptable to stay silent while innocent people are in jail. Shell investors are already feeling twitchy about associations with Gazprom, so adding your voice could make a real difference. Then maybe we can all feel a little less helpless. The more we allow by turning our backs, the more our rights and the rights of the planet will be trodden on!
