DofE Its not often that during the Spring we get such lovely weather and while everyone was enjoying the Sun, a small merry band of year 9 and 10 pupils spent the whole day learning how to use a map and compass, cook on stoves, practice some emergency evacuation skills, generally learn what a style was (for some is was a gate, others a steppy thing) and how to pick a path once youd got lost. Some stars that impressed the DofE team were Lauryn Paterson, she got stuck in and did you know, has a passion for photography and Brittany Guyatt, a natural navigator. While after some go-go juice (so I was told by Tony), Joe Dobson, JJ Wilson, Adam Hussain and Sean Robson cruised home after some fantastic navigation as a team. All bodes well for our next adventure in April for their first camping expedition. Hopefully I will remember the sun cream or hat, the thing about being a leader, you sometimes forget yourself.
