Dog problem...if this were YOUR dog what would you do...and no I dont have $1000 to see a vet on the weekend. And NO I wont consider your opinion professional advice. Here is the back ground: Friday the 14th I noticed a hematoma on my 9 yr old Labs ear. Vet saw her on Monday the 16th and gave Predisone to shrink it and Tramadol for pain. She said dog had ear infection in opposite ear and packed with some kind of gooey medecine. She hadnt been complaining about it so I didnt give the Tramadol. For a few days she kinda yelped a bit now and then and I didnt think much of it cause I need to have her toes trimmed and she was scratching the ear so I figured she hurt herself scratching. On Wed pm I gave one dose of the pain meds. On Friday night she paced around through the night. Yesterday I went to town for a few hours and when I got home around 1pm she looked like she was shivering....spasms when inhaling. Ive been reading all over the net and it looks like this is an indicator of pain. She stopped drinking about 4pm last night. She didnt pee from 1pm when I got home til just this morning and it was only a little bit. No food and no BM.I quit giving the Prednisone thinking she might be having a reaction to it. She is listless and doesnt want to get up and move around. I gave her one dose of pain meds 50 minutes ago and I think they are working as she is sleeping now and not doing that tremor thing when she inhales...at least while she is sleeping. She has followed me twice to get to the room I was working in and she wants me to pet her...thumping tail now and then. Earlier in the week I caught dog eating paper and there were goose eggs missing with a few shards of shells in back yard but usually it is the hound who steals food not this dog. So very long story short, this dog is in pain with an ear problem or stuff in her guts that hurt. I cant really get her to drink much. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions?
