Don Ness has been one of the greatest Mayors Duluth, or any city, has had. He walked into serious challenges, especially financial, and tackled them one by one. But he never let that drag him down and kept raising the bar for Duluth. He attracted business, grew others, focused on technology and so much more….including an inspirational vision for connecting the west side of Duluth to the St. Louis River. He even had the audacity to challenge the Mayor of Minneapolis about what is the best beer city. I met Don when he was on the council and we worked together on strategies to get more state partnership with cities. Since then he has been a fantastic partner and friend. Best of luck, Don. You go out at the very top after a remarkable run.
