Dont Count Winter Out... So many people have claimed that winter is over, going as far as bashing those who called for an active winter. At the beginning of December, I called for a much colder second half of December, but we really didnt start seeing the Arctic cold until the very last few days in December and now carrying over into January. I missed that call because I initially thought the pattern transition would occur sooner than it did, and I apologize for my botched forecast there. Now when we talked about winter months, December is more of a segway month into January and February. Historically, January into February is generally is a peak time frame for the most active winter weather to occur. For those across the Southeast US, February into March is generally the peak time frame that provides the best opportunities for winter weather. This January appears to be no different, at least early on. As I mentioned days ago, another pattern change appears in the cards toward the end of January and as we head through the first few weeks into February. The time frame for this, early on, would begin around the 21st to 26th of January and continuing through February. This may be our best dose of active winter weather so far this winter, especially across the central and eastern US. Now, please understand as Ive mentioned countless times, many pieces must work in tandem for this pattern to occur. Every day, hour, minute, etc these variables can change. Just one variable changing can throw this entire potential pattern change out the window. As Ive said before, anything I see early on, youll know about... and this is what Im seeing early on....
