Dont do stupid things when you are on Community Supervision and have warrants On 12/17/2014 at 3:19 p.m. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office AB109 Team was in the community of Happy Valley when deputies observed an all- terrain vehicle (ATV), designed for off road use, travelling at a high rate of speed on the roadway. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but the operator of the ATV, later identified as Michael Harvey, 40, refused to stop and accelerated north on Happy Valley Rd toward Palm Ave. Harvey continued at a high rate of speed turning onto Palm Ave, where deputies discontinued the pursuit due to an elementary school in the area. Harvey continued and attempted to travel off road just beyond the schools playground. Harvey lost control of the ATV and collided with brush in an open area, west of the school property then fled on foot. Deputies arrived in the area and while searching the area found Harvey hiding approximately 100 yards from the ATV. Harvey was taken into custody without further incident. The ATV Harvey was operating was determined to be stolen, reported to the California Highway Patrol in November of 2014. Michael Harvey, who is on Post Release Community Supervision (AB109), also had five outstanding warrants for his arrest. Harvey was booked on the listed warrants along with felony possession of stolen property, felony evading a police officer and felony child endangerment, due to his reckless behavior on and around school grounds.
