Don’s Daily Parable-Completely Taken In-9/8/2013 Have you ever been ‘taken in’ by someone? Maybe you bought something ‘As Seen On TV’, and it turns out to be quite cheesy. You may have ordered the combination finger nail clipper, salad slicer, hair curler combo. You received it after paying the super inflated price, plus ‘shipping and handling’. After you inspected it, it doesn’t really clip your nails, slice salad or curl your hair. What a shock! Then the link doesn’t work when you try to contact them so you can get your money back. A long time ago, I bought a 1966 Pontiac Tempest. It ran good, and one Sunday, Pat and I were on the way to church and Beaux and Leheauxled (those two Cajun guys again), it started sounding like the back wheel was coming off. It turned out that someone had welded the lug bolts onto the axle, and the welds broke. It wouldn’t have been real cute if I had been driving on the highway at a higher speed. Sometimes, we get ‘taken in’ by a person. They may come across so nice and seem so honest, then suddenly something happens which reveals the true person that they really are. You want to trust someone and sometimes it just doesn’t work out. That’s when you need to use the discernment that the Lord gives you. There is someone who has completely taken me in. His name is Jesus and He is faithful and true. He will never disappoint you or forsake you. He will always be there and will never lie to you. He can be trusted. Praise the Lord, I’ve been completely taken in. God bless you.
