Don’t Give Up The Fight Defeated in the body but never in the spirit Our brother’s earthly being was torn by a bullet Now life is snatched, a son, brother, friend; now Tray gone Teenager wanted skittles, but racial profiler gave Trayvon Grievous abuse which took the young man’s life In his hands there was nothing, on his person; no gun, no knife Vengeance is mine saith the Lord and so it will be Evil shall not prevail; killers will exist in purgatory Unlawful acts that manage to deceive the court Put questions in our heads; where’s justice, what does this purport? There is no earthly guarantee Have faith my friend in the Almighty Earnestly say the pray as you go out Fight with your soul and if your mouth does shout In your heart help has already come, your soul already freed Grievousness kills the body but fight in the soul and evil will never succeed How ever we try, six or twelve is no guarantee we’ll get it right The only thing that ensures safety is when we Don’t Give Up The Fight The Bajan Poetry Society
