Dooley Noted: 10/18/2013 How Much to Charge Ive had many the person choose to not be assessed and treated by me with the following excuses: Youre not in my plan. Youre just too expensive. This used to leave me pondering the ultimate question: Of what worth is my time? How much do I charge? I dont work a 9-5. Every moment of my life goes to the pursuit of being better than I was yesterday. I study constantly. I sacrifice half my practice time to teach - so I stay mentally sharp as a knife. I choose to live like a camera is upon me, putting myself on display and risking ridicule and judgment. I live what I do. I dont charge by the hour, but by the session - where Im an email or phone call away when between visits. I know the value of not making every moment transactional. Im staying abreast to the current literature and what is being taught to health practitioners. I cant remember the last time I went a single day without assessing someone. They always find me - and I love this. I live this. I spend on average $10K a year in continuing education, and I teach continuing education on many weekends. Im honored to do it. And I STILL charge less than any chiropractor I know in NYC. And you get an hour with me, instead of the average 15-30 minutes. I may be out of network, but Im worth more than I can ever charge. So, I tried to make it as affordable as I could. No less. No more. After one pays thousands in co-pays elsewhere with limited results, Ill still be here. I will even help you find someone that thinks like me, who might be in your network. That is why I charge what I charge. Some say its too much. Others say its too little. Charge what you charge and focus on the patient. Choose me or someone else, but I hope you get assessed and get corrected. Pain is an alarm not to be ignored. As always, its your call. - Dr. Kathy Dooley
