Dotty is a toy poodle who we did a pregnancy scan on a month ago, finding only one puppy. This can be a problem in her breed because the puppy can grow disproportionately large, and become unable to be born naturally. A week ago we xrayed her abdomen to confirm, and there was only one puppy, you can just make out the white outline of the bones in the puppies spine within the abdomen. So we decided to do an elective Caesarian. She was due on Sunday, and kept us waiting, but we are delighted to say that we successfully performed the Caesarian at 12.15 this morning, a (huge) female puppy is doing very well, as is mum!
