Doug Flanders, the Colorado Oil and Gas Associations director of policy and external affairs, says the proposed fracking bans in Fort Collins, Boulder, Broomfield and Lafayette are shortsighted and do nothing to address Colorados need for reliable, domestic sources of energy. Which would be fine if it wasnt for the FACT that the oil and gas they produce is being sold on the GLOBAL MARKET, not in Colorado or the US, and that our oil and gas heating costs this winter will actually be HIGHER as a result. The oil and gas industry is LYING TO YOU. They want to frack your land, take the oil and sell it overseas. They operate on 30-40 year leases which means once they drill a well near your home, it will be there for the rest of your lives. Thanks to Dick Cheney (former chairman and CEO of Halliburton, who DEVELOPED present-day fracking techniques) and George Bushs Energy Policy Act of 2005, fracking is EXEMPT from all federal clean air and clean water regulations. They have NO CONCERN for your health, water safety, air quality, climate change or environmental damage. Its all about raping the planet for profit. STOP THE FRACKING!! Vote to BAN FRACKING.
