One day Bishr ibn Al Harith was wandering drunk on the road, he found a piece of paper, he picked it up and found written on it: In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful. He picked It up with extreme reverence, perfumed it and placed it in a clean and respectful place in his home. That night he dreamt that Allah addressed him, saying: O Bishr, as you have my Name sweet, I swear by My Glory that I shall make your name sweet in this world and the next. After this he completely repented from his wayward antics, and became such a great Saint of Allah, that even Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Allah have mercy on them both, would seek his company and advice. He became known as Al-Hafi- the Barefoot, because he would not wear shoes, as he perceived the whole world to be the carpet of Almighty Allah. It is never too late to repent, there are never too many sins. No good deed is too small, we never know which one will be accepted in the court of Almighty Allah and be the means of our salvation.
