Dr Alexander P Breda was born in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana in 1837. He served as a surgeon with the Confederate States Army. He enlisted as a private on December 03, 1862 with Company C, 2nd Lousiana Cavalry, Camp Bisland, Louisiana. 04/14/1863 - Taken prisoner, Franklin, LA 08/00/1863 - Pvt., Co. C, 2nd LA Cavalry - Asst. Surgeon, 7th LA Cavalry 06/06/1865 - Paroled as Asst. Surgeon 7th LA Cavalry, Natchitoches Parish, LA After the war he worked against the interests of the Knights of the White Camellia, a white supremacist group. He testified against that group in 1879 in New Orleans at Congressional committee hearing. He practiced medicine in Natchitoches. When his office and the shared office of his brother, a lawyer, burned to the ground, law enforcement authorities judged the fire a case of arson in 1881. He lived until September 9, 1911.
