Dr. Shirley is finished with the scope. He said Brynlees airway looks great (her tongue still blocks it somewhat) and encouraged us to downsize her trach in a few weeks after she is recovered from surgery. Downsizing will allow her more room to breathe around the trach then we will begin capping some during the day. This will also give her the opportunity to vocalize more. After we begin capping with success, she will have a sleep study while capped and if that is successful, her trach will come out. He said he believes she will not need jaw distraction! We absolutely love Dr. Shirley and he will be our ENT from here on out.
