Dream Academy students from all four high schools in Salinas came together today for the first time at Cesar Chavez library. We had an incredible slate of speakers and the energy in the room was absolutely amazing. Our Dream Academy students are preparing themselves to take the community by storm! We want to thank Erica Padilla-Chavez and Claudia Meléndez who spoke to the students about the importance of taking the Impact Monterey County survey so that their voices could be heard and resources could be directed to their communities. We also want to thank Greta Arevalo from the Monterey County Elections Department who taught the students how to register voters ahead of National Voter Registration Day this upcoming Tuesday. Salinas Valley LULAC President Berna Maya also enthusiastically spoke in support of the current collaboration between our two organizations. Special thanks goes out to the Dream Academy staff, our Dream Team, for all of the hard work they put in to making sure that todays event was successful. Thank you Lily Cardenas, Juan Ramirez Brambila, Maria Pio-Oros, AnaRosa Cardenas, and of course my amazing wife Lorena Silva.
