Drive through Bexley. A quick drive through the suburb of Bexley, Christchurch. The area is designated Red Zone by the government meaning all properties were offered to be bought out by the government and the area was abandoned. This was due to the extensive ground damages in the February 22nd 2011 Earthquake. The area is now being cleared. Most of this was meant to be done by July 2014 but as you can see there are still many houses. The clearance of all 7000+ residential properties in the flat residential red zone should be cleared by the end of 2014. Once all properties are cleared the area will be used for a range of options that help enhance the environmental appeal for Christchurch City.
