PLEASANT, MI Airgas USA. JOB SUMMARY: CLASS A ROUTE DELIVERY DRIVER Loading, unloading, and delivery of high-pressure and liquid gas cylinders to route customers. Day shift. Home every night. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: •Move high-pressure and liquid cylinders from vehicle to designated customer sites •Perform cylinder inspections per operating procedures •Manage paperwork to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards •Assist loading/unloading cylinders on / off pallets and on /off tractor trailers •Drive forklift •Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: •High School Diploma or GED •Class A CDL, Hazmat Certification and minimum 2 years verifiable driving experience and clean driving record •Minimum of 1 year previous work experience in sales, with route sales a plus •Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and push/pull carts up to 200 pounds using appropriate equipment •Demonstrates through previous work experience the ability to interact well with customers •Must be detail oriented with good writing skills to complete handwritten compliance documentation accurately and neatly •Flexibility to work overtime as required TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: •Must have reliable, appropriate transportation to get to and from work facility. •Drive local routes throughout the day in company truck. COMPUTER SKILLS: •Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) a plus COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS: •Ability to effectively and professionally verbally communicate thoughts to both external and internal customers. •Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. •Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: •Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. •Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent’s. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: •MUST HAVE Class A CDL, Active Hazmat and Airbrake certs, excellent driving record. PHYSICAL ABILITY •Must meet all physical qualification standards imposed by regulation for drivers. •Ability to routinely lift 25 - 50 lbs, occasionally lift 51 - 80 lbs, and occasionally push up to 200 lbs with the aid of material handling equipment •Extensive sitting and vibration while driving for up to 8 hours •Work outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 110 degrees Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling and repetitive motions required to lift, push, pull, drive •Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling and finger activities •Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant and color vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus. •Ability to stand/walk on concrete for an extended period of time. •Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
