Dropped my pen but filed my notice of appeal with God! - TopicsExpress

Dropped my pen but filed my notice of appeal with God! This is my New Years and Birthday message in regards to the Civil Rights movement and my plans for my approach to the future. Niccolò Machiavelli wrote it best that it is better to be feared than loved. However, he wrote the book hundreds of years ago for that period of time. We have so many people, all over America, in fear of what they dont know and want to be loved by the people that they have yet to let know about the real them. Accordingly, Its better to be loved than to spend your whole life in fear would be more modern to our current conditions. When people are so full of hatred for others! It is something wrong with your soul and spirit. You can not love with hate. You can not successfully govern with your inner circle full of hate. You can not successfully police and keep our streets safe with hate. Moreover, You can try and build a temple, brick by brick with hate, but love will always be the cement that you will keep missing to keep the temple from falling. In the end, it will only remain a fool that tried to build something that can never be finish! Today, I was spending time reflecting on a lot of things with life here in Maryland compared to being in Danville or Norfolk. The biggest question; was it worth it came to mind with my adventures in the Southside of Virginia? I looked back at the many faces, groups, and lives that I have encountered and I can say yes. However, it is a time to move on in the right way. You start looking up that definition of forgiveness, so that you can be at peace with them and your God. Sometimes, we all do things out of trying to get even or just for revenge. In the midst of our battles, we sometimes forget about God has it in his hands. Moreover, we sometimes try to takeover and do more than what he has asked us to do and in return we have to learn a hard lesson. We have to grow up and mature through his guidance and suffer punishment when we have lost our way. We have to become better than who we was and who we are today. You can not claim sin while adopting a child a hate. I may have not liked the outcome and I was very heated at the justice system. My reliance on a judge being fair and impartial and not enough time on God whom is the judge, jury, and the executioner. I felt free after I left the courthouse, because no one was in that room looking out for me except for God. All those that I considered my enemies was present and on time waiting to see my last breath or vision of me in the area. I was prepared for a unfair trial and at the right moments knew when to object and make certain statements to get prepared for the appeal outside of Danville. Moreover, a moment in the trial, after getting in a heated exchange over not being provided evidence with the judge and prosecutor. I sat down and just chilled out for the remainder of the trial. I took a deep breath and something told me that I had fought and done enough. It is time for God to takeover. I did not call another witness or make any additional objections. Not me by flesh but by God would be my rod and staff and he shall comfort me. After hearing the guilty verdict and the sentence. Nothing felt better than me saying thank you to the judge. He would not look me in my face at all as he gave the fine and suspended jail time. The police, the judge, the prosecutor, and all the other players know what they did, but they have to live with that; I do not! Unless I let hate or getting even take over than the sentence becomes valid. Each day that you let hate consume you is like spending another day receiving cruel and unusual punishment. The punishment being that you are letting it take over who you are and becoing what they want you to be. The personification of them. Finally, I simply forgave them and I hope they have done the same for me! Accordingly, a majority of our leaders never got into positions of leadership intending to be corrupt. They all had the dream of change, but some had the fortune of finding out sooner rather than later, that words are not as easy to apply towards action. When helping people that you have spent most of your life taking advantage of and have lost sight of protecting and serving the people. It takes over your soul. Merle Rutledge and other civil rights leaders would have never been created to remind those that it is time to follow your oath and not your misconceptions. We all have been burned by our prejudice of believing our own kind could not possibly betray us. We all have ran with a pack of Judahs, but failed to walk with God. Its only history repeating itself under those conditions with a harsh outcome. We are just reminders of doing what is right, but we all need to know when to give God all the glory and not us trying to chase the next headline. Moreover, the script can always be flipped, because it happens every single day. However, it is not my job to be their judge. No one is perfect! Including me! Everyone deserves a second chance to get things right. As I forgive them, I hope they forgive me for all I have done. Not every fight was about them, sometimes the fight becomes about yourself. The day on the agenda, who can get one over the other? You forget about the purpose! No one won on September 29, because so many people lost. Failure to embrace diversity will always lead to record levels of unemployment and depression in your area. A room full of people that could make the area better for everyone in one courtroom, but are in a bitter battle of causing as much damage to each other as possible. If they decided to work together and not spend so much time fighting each other than prosperity will follow. Less crime will follow. More options will be developed. Throughout all the news, drama, and issues that happen nationwide with municipal governments and their employees, they are still gods children and so are we! We all have that one second that transcends our lives. We must put our focus on him and what would jesus do in this type of situation. Jesus got whipped, beaten, and crucified. He forgave those that trespassed against him, so that we could live. Now, It is my turn! It will soon be yours! I hold no ill will or any animosity towards anyone in the area. The day of challenging each other is over! To make the Southside better, we need to have more than just one day of forgiveness, but a lifetime becoming better in our own lives and with our maker. In conclusion, we are all apart of the human race! I hope for a day that there is no longer a black or white issue, but a agenda that addresses us viewing each other as equals! Today, I drop the pen on being another judge, but picked up the ladder! I can no longer keep fighting for people that fail to show up and fight for me. The only reason why the conviction ocurred was because those that could have proved my innocence failed to show up. Never again! Goodbye, Merle Rutledge, Merle Rutledge, Merle Rutledge
