Drosha 9: Making the right choice (Shebanging 14th September 2013) This week I finally learnt one reason why we fast every year from Mr Menachem. We all have an animal side to us that drives us to choose the more indulgent root (My animal is eating for two). We gave up on food for one day this week to relies we are above our impulses. We fight the beast because if we become the beast we are lower than the beast- as conscious humans we should know better. We can achieve much more than animals, so why shouldn’t we. We have been gifted with consciousness, free choice and spirituality - why waste it. This push turns out be the basis of Judaism, which forces us to become conscious of the meaning in our journey, not the now in our journey….No he didn’t, did he just Shebang me…... Well if you have just been overcome with a moment of enlightenment and spiritual zen accumulating from your mind, body and special parts all in one, then the answer is yes, yes we did.
