Due to recent post I feel the rules need addressed for all to clearly read without going into the faq, pinned post. For members that havent taken the time to read the faqs and the rules..They are clearly stated here.. Admins Reserve The Right To Remove Any Post At Any Given Time. We reserve the right to remove any off-topic post. This includes any post that gets out of control, with huge numbers of negative comments. (Chill out, folks, its only COOKING. We dont come to this group to judge others.) Some of these include, cute animal pictures, selfies, messages meant to deliberately incite other members of this group, etc. -- all of which have nothing to do with cooking in cast iron. With over 100,000 members, we strive to stay on topic and drama free. If you feel you really need an explanation of why your post was removed, feel free to Private message an admin. Drama posts asking why my post was removed or Im leaving this group, goodbye will not be tolerated. You will be banned on the spot with no warning. No Politics Allowed We pride ourselves with having a friendly and open Facebook group. In order to keep it friendly and open, we enforce a NO POLITICS rule, and we encourage people to take arguments and disagreements in private and AWAY from this group. This rule is spelled out here: facebook/groups/castironskillet/permalink/614826155267890/ Q: Everyone, please offer prayers and good wishes for our dear family member... A: We ask everyone *not* to post requests for good wishes and prayers on this Facebook group. This is not meant as an affront to any religious beliefs. This is because our Facebook group has over 108,000 members as of December 2014 (with more joining every day). A request of this sort results in hundreds, or even thousands, of comments that flood the Facebook notifications of everyone who adds their own comments (including you!). This causes a great deal of difficulty and frustration for all of these people, and it results in unnecessary confusion and anger. More importantly, this is not related to the subject of cooking in cast iron. Therefore, for the benefit of everyone, we ask that requests for prayers and well-wishes be kept on personal Facebook profile pages, or on other Facebook pages. Thank you for your consideration. Q: Its not about cast iron, but heres a cute, funny, and beautiful picture... A: As with the prayer requests: because of the heavy message traffic in this Facebook group, we have to remove pictures of pets, Christmas trees, babies, funny memes, and other subjects that are not about cooking in cast iron. Pictures of these items have resulted in literally thousands of replies, and hundreds of other pictures in response that were also *not* about cast iron cooking. This flooded the group with messages that were *not* about cast iron cooking. This is all meant in humor and fun, BUT it is not about the purpose of the group: cooking in cast iron. People could not read the group because of all the pictures of Christmas trees - they literally could not read the forest for the trees. The moderators received *many* complaints, and people began leaving the group. We had no choice but to remove these picturess. Any further cute pictures, or pictures not on topic for the group, will also need to be removed. Q: Where is everyone living? Is anyone near me? A: We have a Google Map that can be edited by any member of this group. Feel free to pin your location to the map. Link To The map: goo.gl/maps/C5hoo Two important notes: First, you must be INVITED by another member of this group to join the map. You can ask anyone on the Facebook group to invite you. Second: if you want to remain private, you do not have to give your real or exact location. Q: Are members allowed to sell cast iron in the group? A: While all members here love cast iron and cooking, we also like to buy and sell cast iron. So, to clear some confusion of whether sales or no sales are allowed, Im posting this written rule. Sometimes new members dont read or follow the rules, and we try to give them a break if they say, I have cast iron for sale. This is fine, but admins try to direct them to the two best known sales groups on Facebook or guide them to take it to a private message. This is to avoid issues that come with sales of cast iron, such as insurance, payment methods, fees, etc. This group is set up for cooking, not sales. We try to work with members that dont understand these issues, so please understand without causing problems over someones post. Please direct them to the following groups in a nice manner. Thanks for understanding!
