Dungiven Dungiven Celtic Fc 1sts Match Report 13/09/2014 Craig Memorial Cup Dungiven Celtic 2 Desertmartin 1 Goals Kevy Kevy Dunne Eoghan Eoghan Quigg Dungiven started the game well, playing some good football and looked the more likely to open the scoring. Within the first 10 minutes Kevy Dunne found himself breaking through for a one a one but Desertmartins keeper did well to deny him with a smart save. Ten minutes later Oran Oran Armstrong slipped Kevy Dunne through again and this time he made no mistake with his finish. Dungiven held the lead for only 8 minutes, the midfield got caught in possession and Desertmartin broke to apply a great finish bringing the sides level. In the minutes leading up to half time Dungiven hit the post and squandered a few good opportunities but also survived a late scare when Desertmartin hit the bar only for the rebound to be cleared by the Dungiven defence. Both teams came out in second half playing good football on a surface fit for any football match. Eoghan Quigg, who proved a constant threat to the Desertmartin defence all afternoon again hit the post after a good run. In the last 15 minutes minutes Quigg was played through, this time he made no mistake with a neat top corner finish. With the game now at 2-1 Desertmartin threw everything at Dungiven but their defence absorbed the pressure well, that was until the last 5 minutes when Desertmartins striker found himself one on one with Connor Connor Thornton but the keeper came out on top with a brave save to keep his side one goal ahead and ensure the victory. Dungivens reward is a quarter final clash with Ardstraw on Saturday 27th September. Club training will be the usual Tuesday and Thursday evening 18:45pm. Team line up below
